drink locally- west coast sake

Sake is an alcoholic drink that has become popular in America in recent years. California and Oregon are starting to make their own and selling it, instead of buying from Japan. It's good that the U.S. is making their own because then it doesn't have to be shipped over here and pollute the earth.

but how does the quality compare to the sake from Japan?

Will this threaten the integrity of the Sake? On the same note, can we still call this "Sake" as it is not authentic from the country of its own origin?

I'm curious...where did this article come from? I'm interested and would like to read more into the subject.

I would certainly hope the quality of the sake would not be compromised. But, if it was, I would not mind drinking sake of a slightly lower quality, if it meant there would be less adverse effects on the environment. I believe that little sacrifices like this can really add up.
